Lake Melissa Cottage
Located on the north shore of Lake Melissa, this seasonal lake cottage was designed to replace a historic cabin located on a very narrow lot, which created several design challenges. BHH maximized the limited building frontage by creating an open Floor Plan that takes advantages of lake views from the Kitchen, Dining and Great Room, creating a large Porch type feel to the Main Living area. An open stairway design was incorporated off the entrance hallway, allowing for natural daylighting to be incorporated within the core of the building. Unique storage cabinets were incorporated below the stairway to maximize storage within the Main Level. Building height limitations allowed BHH to incorporate (3) Bedrooms and (2) Baths within the Upper Level by creating dormers and unique ceiling spaces throughout the Second Level. In addition to the main cabin, BHH incorporated a separate Detached Garage, with a small Living space stacked about the Main Level, with its own private exterior entrance.
