ITOW Veterans Museum

Situated on a corner lot along Perham’s Main Street, the 12,425 square foot In Their Own Words Veterans Museum building is iconic in nature, representing an understated simplicity to its design yet maintaining an original landmark feature from a previous VFW building in honor of all the veterans who have come before. The facility was a major renovation project that transformed a vacant building into an interactive audio/visual virtual walk-thru of the different stages and times of the war experience. The museum features a large Mess Hall area with a surround theater for displaying videos, portraits, traveling displays, etc. A tour area is included that walks a visitor thru all stages of war, both from a solider and family perspective with interviews of veterans displayed via video. The facility also has a large Lounge and Dining area for holding larger groups and gatherings with a central commercial style kitchen.
